Country Christmas Open House Winner
(Waitsfield): One hundred forty-three shoppers visited five or more local stores on Saturday, December 1, turning in their shopper punch card at the fifth merchant. Historic numbers are 2011: 103; 2010: 84; and 126 cards returned in 2009.
Cathy Kelley of Cape Cod and Warren was the winner of the Grand Prize drawing of items donated by participating merchants. Upon being notified of her prize, Cathy expressed both her surprise and her glowing report of her Valley shopping day. She found the music coming from the Waitsfield Church steeple and the snowy sidewalks put her in the mood to stroll and shop. Cathy also visited Mad River Green, purchasing gifts for co-workers.
Mad River Valley Chamber director, Susan Klein said, “I would like to thank the merchants who participated in the Country Christmas Open House this year for their support and generosity. The shops look incredible after dark, lit in full splendor.” Country Christmas Open House was supported by the Valley Arts Foundation, hosting their inaugural Holiday Paint-In.
