Climate Change and our Future: Mitigation, Adaptation and Dialogue – Session 2

October 5 @ 6:30 pm

Free

This fall, join the Mad River Valley Libraries as we explore ideas around adaptation strategies that build resilience for our community in the face of climate change. This three part series features selected book titles, film quality videos, and conversations with a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) science partner. Although each session will focus on one theme related to this global problem, the overarching message is one of local people, local stories, and coming together to enact necessary change.

Session Two topic: “Change”
Book: “Heat Wave: A Social Autopsy of Disaster in Chicago” by Robert Henson

Copies of “Heat Wave” are available for checkout at the libraries now, and the series is free and open to the public. We are one of 50 public libraries nationwide receiving grants to host this “book club meets science cafe” that has been developed by a team of library professionals, scientists, and filmmakers. Their organizations include the Califa Group, Dawson Media Group, and Goodman Research Group, with generous funding from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the National Science Foundation.
