The Mad River Valley is a special place and our unique nature is reflected in the tremendous variety of activities and events scheduled throughout the year. Spectator sports such as downhill racing, bicycle racing and polo can be enjoyed by all ages. Golf and tennis tournaments, running races, and winter triathlons welcome participation from both locals and visitors alike. Classical and contemporary music concerts, including the Green Mountain Opera Festival, and plays at the Valley Players Theater take place throughout the year. Summer is enlivened by our funky, small-town 4th of July Celebration, kicking off the multi-week Festival of the Great Outdoors in July. The Vermont Festival of the Arts runs through the whole month of August, culminating with a huge Craft Fair on Labor Day Weekend.
