Situated to offer breathtaking views of the Mad River Valley and the surrounding Green Mountains, Mountain Valley Farm is a charming and unique location to bring your family or friends for an old-fashioned, memorable Vermont farm experience. In the winter, your ride will take you by antique sleigh up through gorgeous mountainside fields that expose you to one of the best views in the state. (The sleigh cannot hold large groups, so do check when you call.) There are blankets to cuddle under when it is cold, sweet sounding sleigh bells jingling on the large draft horses, and hot cider and popcorn, back at the heated barn, to enjoy after the ride.
Another great part of each experience is having time to visit with the many barnyard animals (chickens, goats, sheep, draft horses, and sometimes pigs). Children can even sit up on a big, Belgian, draft horse's back, or try to find eggs in the chicken coop. Visitors are also welcome to explore the barn (built in 1882) and grounds, and even stay for a picnic in the orchard during the summer months.
Whether it's for a family outing, romantic date, sunset cocktail ride, engagement, or party (bring your birthday party here), the farm is perfect for out-of-the-ordinary fun, away from crowds. If you are in need of a place to stay, why not spend a few nights in the elegant guest-suite, separate from the farmhouse? Wake up to roosters crowing and join in with morning chores.
For smaller, intimate wedding ceremonies, Mountain Valley Farm offers a beautiful upper meadow, complete with a post and beam wedding arch and use of the lovely, formal, horse and carriage, or sleigh. Whatever the occasion, Mountain Valley Farm is available to share its splendor
