Green Up Day & MRV Green Valley Rally

Lots of exciting new additions to Green Up Day in the Valley this year!
MRV Green Valley Rally
Green Up Day coordinators have partnered with the MRV Chamber of Commerce and stewardMRV to host our first “MRV Green Valley Rally” at the new MRV Welcome Center. From 8:00a-2:00p, stop by the Center (at the corner of Routes 100 and 17) for Green Up bags, morning snacks, and roadside assignments. Join your neighbors in helping to Green Up Vermont! Stop by the tent at the MRV Visitor Center to grab a Green Up Day bag. You’ll also have the chance to learn more about fvolunteer opportunities with the Friends of the Mad River, stewardMRV, and Valley knotweed eradication programs.

Green Up Day Bottle Drive
We’re asking all Green Up Day volunteers to separate clean(ish) refundable cans found along our roadsides this year. We will provide separate clear bags for these cans and ask that you kindly bring the bags down to the Welcome Center. You can also bring refundable cans and bottles back to the tent.We will then redeem the cans and donate all funds to our local MRV Interfaith Council, which serves neighbors in need.
Thank You Volunteers BBQ
All Green Up Day Volunteers are invited back to the MRV Welcome Center from 12:00-2:00 pm for a thank you BBQ.
stewardMRV Volunteer Job Fair
Learn more about other conservation and stewardship opportunities. Representatives from various local organizations involved in stewardship in the MRV will be on hand to share information about volunteer opportunities. You can look into becoming a stewardMRV site steward, a Friends of the Mad River River Watch Volunteer, a Mad River Path volunteer or even help out with the Mad River Valley Recreation District. Check out some of the options here.
Tire Recycling
The MR Resource Management Alliance (MRRMA) is once again collecting tires at the Earthwise Transfer Station on Green Up Day from 8:00a-1:00p. If you find a tire along a roadside, please bring it to the Transfer Station for recycling free of charge. If you want to recycle your own car or pickup truck tires, the MRRMA will process those (with or without rims) for $5 each.
