Mad River Valley Arts is pleased to present a retrospective of Mireille Clapp. Her indoor work is mixed media wall sculpture, and has been referred to as “Jewels for Walls”. she uses many different materials, primarily metals, steel, copper, aluminum, bronze and brass which she combine with contrasting materials such as wood, cloth, glass, stone and coral. Sometimes she applied paint to provide rich color effects. She would always strive for surprising textural relationships. She was particularly fascinated by the tension between order and disorder and so my pieces often combine organic and geometric shapes. Mireille had a long history in Vermont and had a home in Roxbury for many years. She passed away in 2018.
Th exhibit is free and children are always welcome.
