Socrates Cafe at the Joslin Memorial Library

October 12, 2016 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

A Socrates Café, named this because it utilizes the Socratic Method, is an opportunity for a community dialogue about a “timeless and timely” question. Participants are encouraged to listen and learn from each other rather than debating or listening to a presentation by an “expert.” These gatherings are open to all members of the community, regardless of age, experience or background. This the first Socrates Cafe to be held at the library. The discussion will be facilitated by Harwood students who are experienced in leading Socratic Dialogues.

The question discussed will be: “What knowledge and skills are essential for citizens to engage in today’ s world?”
