Giving Tuesday MRV Style
The 2020 Holiday Season is certainly different than in years past. It’s a good time to take stock and be more intentional with our gift giving. The holiday season is a great opportunity to give meaningful gifts that come back to support amazing local organizations that make our community a better place to live.
There are so many organizations in the MRV that contribute so much throughout the year. Many of them offer opportunities to give gifts of membership or a donation in the name of a recipient . In this era of consumerism when so many are seeking more meaningful ways to give during the holiday season we encourage you to consider these fine local organizations.
Ensuring the health of the precious resource that is our valley’s namesake.
There are so many to choose from which means there is something for everyone. Here are just a few suggestions.
The Long Trail is part of the fabric of our community
Make a donation or provide a membership to a loved one to these local organizations;
Friends of the Mad River – A private, non-profit organization committed to protecting, improving and enhancing the ecological, recreational, and community values of the Mad River and its watershed.
Green Mountain Club – For over 100 years the Green Mountain Club has protected and maintained the Long Trail System, America’s oldest long-distance hiking trail.
Committed to making sure local folks get the mental health access that they need

Hannahs’ House – Supports mental health for children, teens, adults and families by providing local, high quality counseling, community outreach through education, financial assistance for those in need.
A MRR Membership would be the perfect gift for the rider in your life.
Mad River Path Association – Their mission is to build, maintain, and conserve a system of continuous public pathways from Warren to Moretown to foster a healthy community by connecting the people, businesses and special places of the Mad River Valley.
Mad River Riders – Not only do you support their trail building efforts, members also get the full benefits of VMBA membership, including shop discounts at a wide range of outdoor gear stores, free day passes to most VT bike parks and paid networks and much more.
One of the only all-volunteer services in the state – celebrating their 50th Anniversary in 2020.
Mad River Valley Ambulance Service – MRVAS provides 24-hour Emergency Medical Service to residents and visitors of the Mad River Valley. Since its inception, MRVAS has undergone considerable growth to keep pace with the growing needs of the community, as well as advances in emergency medical care. The service is made possible by a highly dedicated group of over 60 volunteers making it one of the last surviving all volunteer services in Vermont.
Moretown’s charming library is a community resource worthy of support.

Mad River Valley Libraries
Warren Library – The Friends Library work closely with the Library Director to promote and enhance the library’s mission.
Joslin Memorial Library – The Friends of the Library provides financial and volunteer support to the Joslin Memorial Library. They work closely with the library director to promote and enhance the library’s mission.
Moretown Library – The Friends of the Moretown Memorial Library are a nonprofit organization whose mission is to fulfill the needs of the library through fund raising efforts.
Dedicated to helping MRV residents that might need some support.
Mad River Valley Community Fund – The Mad River Valley Community Fund is a non-profit organization established in 1989 to specifically respond to the needs of Mad River Valley residents.
Who else would make all of our community meetings so accessible?
Mad River Valley Television – The mission of MRVTV is to provide public access to the airwaves and online platforms. MRVTV gives community members a voice allowing them to use the medium to express views on topics of local or personal interest.
Mad River Valley Interfaith Council – Serves the people of the MRV through outreach and fostering of unity and understanding in God’s love. The council operates the Valley Food Shelf and Food Commodities program located in the basement of Evergreen Place in Waitsfield.
SpringHill School – This licensed 501(c)3 nonprofit preschool has been serving children from the Mad River Valley and beyond for decades.
Stark Mountain Foundation – Working to preserve and protect the environment and ecosystem of General Stark Mountain, including its recreational access and historic value, and to support programs that promote and sustain that environment for the enjoyment of present and future generations.
Committed to supporting a vibrant arts community in the MRV.
Valley Arts – The Mission of Valley Arts is to produce, promote, and encourage participation in the Creative Endeavors of the community.
Community theater at its very best. Bringing quality productions to the MRV for five decades and going strong.
Valley Players – The VP has been the thespian center of the MRV since the 1960’s. Since 1979 the VP has produced about 4 shows a year and opened its doors to other performing artists and groups and is the home of KidsACT!
Working to get everyone out to enjoy the slopes and a whole lot more.
Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports – Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports is a nationally recognized organization that empowers people of all abilities through inclusive sports and recreational programming regardless of ability to pay.
Waitsfield Children’s Center – WCC provides a play based curriculum that is developmentally stimulating, and provide endless hands-on learning opportunities.
Yestermorrow Design Build School – In hands-on classes that explore and engage, they teach the arts of design and building as an integrated process, and provide instruction in fundamental skills. They offer nearly 100 classes in Land & Community Planning, Whole Structure Design/Build, Building Systems & Building Science, Woodworking & Craft and Tutorials.
