Sugarbush Announces Wall of Fame!

In celebration of their Diamond Jubilee Anniversary, Sugarbush Resort announces the opening of the nominating period for the Sugarbush Wall of Fame. Similar to a Hall of Fame, Sugarbush’s Wall of Fame seeks to recognize some of the most significant contributors to the Sugarbush experience from 1958 to the present.

The Sugarbush Wall of Fame recognition will be awarded annually to two people who have made a significant contribution to “cultivating a spirit of lifelong adventure and camaraderie among Sugarbush staff, guests and the community.”

Nominations are due by Thursday, January 31, 2019, and must include:

  • a brief biography of the nominee;
  • an in-depth description of his/her contribution to “cultivating a spirit of lifelong adventure and camaraderie among Sugarbush staff, guests, and community”;
  • and a minimum of three photos of the nominee.
  • Video clips, quotes, and other supporting evidence are welcome.
  • Nominations must include a minimum of ten signatures of support.

Nominating materials may be mailed to walloffame@sugarbush.com or Sugarbush Wall of Fame/1840 Sugarbush Access Rd./Warren, VT/ 05674.

A Wall of Fame Review Committee is currently being established to oversee this year’s nominations. Nominations will be reviewed in early February, and announced in late February. A Wall of Fame Inaugural Celebration is planned for Saturday, April 6, 2019, following the resort’s scheduled Pond Skimming. Those selected for the Sugarbush Wall of Fame will be commemorated on a wall in the Lincoln Peak base area.

In addition to the Inauguration of the Sugarbush Wall of Fame in April, the resort has an array of special events planned to commemorate its Diamond Jubilee Anniversary. December’s Sugarbash kicked off the music series “60 Years of Sugarbush Music with the Grift”, with local band The Grift playing music from the 1960s era. The band returns on Saturday nights this season to play the next decade of music: February 9 (1980s), March 2 (1990s), March 16 (2000s). The Moth StorySLAM comes to Sugarbush on Friday January 25th at 6:30 to host an evening of storytelling. The StorySLAM is open to the public (tickets go on sale January 11) and is particularly geared to those who have stories from the early days of Sugarbush. That same weekend, the resort is planning an Alumni Weekend, highlighted by an Alumni NASTAR race and a reunion celebration in Castlerock Pub (retro employee uniforms strongly encouraged!).  A season-long 60th Anniversary Memorabilia Display is on view in the foyer of Rumble’s Kitchen and in Gate House Lodge.
