The Huge Role of the MRV Planning District
One aspect of my job that many of you might not be aware of is my role on the steering committee of the Mad River Valley Planning District. The MRV Chamber has a permanent seat to ensure that the interests of the business community are represented. It is remarkable that your perspectives are considered when the MRV towns discuss planning for our collective future. It’s activities are overseen by a 7-voting member Steering Committee, consisting of a representative from the Selectboard and Planning Commission from each of the member towns and a representative of the MRV Chamber.
The history of the MRVPD, and of planning in the Mad River Valley, is a story of a community working together to enhance its identity amidst a changing landscape. In just the past year, this incredibly vital organization is involved with an array of projects that have and will continue to enhance our collective community including:
- Waitsfield’s Community Wastewater Project
- Short-Term Rentals with a Three-Town Approach
- Sugarbush Access Road Shared Use Path
- Vermont 100 Multi-Use Path
- Annual MRV Data Report
- The MRV Partners Meeting
- Boyce Hill Education Project
I encourage you to take the time to learn more about the the Mad River Valley Planning District in the recently published year in review.
