Vermont Cheese Tour

The Vermont Cheese Council is based right here in the MRV at the Mad River Taste Place. It has the most complete collection of cheese made in Vermont and you can taste and purchase them all here at this amazing culinary space. From here you can create and embark on a custom, self-guided cheese tour of Vermont. It’s great way see the places these amazing cheeses are made while enjoying the scenic Vermont countryside along the way. Through the summer and fall seasons the VT Cheese Council is hosting the Cheese Hunt – Get all the details!

Lareau Farm
While the Lareau Farm is well known for being the location of American Flatbread it is also a working farm that welcomes visitors. Here’s what you’ll find there.

The ShareMRV Mad Victory Garden and Farm Stand
Volunteer-run community garden offering basic gardening classes and growing food for the Mad Stand.  The Mad Stand is open for the season from 2:00 pm until close. The Stand offers fresh, local vegetables to all on a donation basis. Vegetables come from The Mad Victory Garden and donations from Waitsfield Farmers Market farmers and local community members’ gardens. All proceeds go to support ShareMRV’s community programs.

Hartshorn Organic Farm Tours
Guided, memorable, behind the scenes, hands on, food and farm tour/inspiring workshop experiences on our authentic working farm in the Mad River Valley of Vermont for foodies and foodie wannabees. While spending time in nature on our organic farm, you’ll leave inspired, educated and transformed. Reconnect with nature and healthy food growing. You may walk away wanting to start a garden and change your eating habits. The 90 minute tours are offered with and without a homemade farm to table lunch.

Knoll Farm
A certified organic family farm on a steep hillside in the heart of the Green Mountains, near Waitsfield. The land has been in agriculture since 1804 and its buildings are on the National Register of Historic Places. The land, which tilts to the southeast, is perfectly suited for growing berries, and a large flock of Icelandic sheep enjoys the pastures and woodland edges.
